Another day running around on the Hill.

General David Petraeus and General Stanley McChrystal were on the Hill this week testifying about the war in Afghanistan.

Ah yes, another evening of yelling and finding other ways to get the attention of people who I assume to be celebrities so I can take their picture. The joys of the red carpet. But sometimes, I come away with a frame or two that I like.

It’s that time of year again, the pardoning of this years National Thanksgiving Turkey, Courage, by the President. I beleive this quote sums it all up: “You know, there are certain days that remind me of why I ran for this office.  And then there are moments like this — where I pardon a turkey and send it to Disneyland.”

I was told an interesting little bit of information about the copy of the George Washington Lansdowne Portrait that hangs in the East Room of the White House today. At the feet of our nations first President is a copy of the Constitution of The United States along with some other books. However, whom ever made the copy of the painting – the original is housed in the National Portrait Gallery – spelled “States” incorrectly as “Sates”. Ooops.

I’ve been spending some time thinking about the idea of subscribing to art. It seems like a win-win situation to me. Artists creating small pieces and collectors being able to purchase work and support emerging artists in an inexpensive way. With that said I have joined a collective called Project Dispatch and I will be supplying prints of my non-journalistic work to those who chose to subscribe to me. Let’s see where it goes.
