Just outside of Portsmouth, New Hampshire is the former Pease Air Force Base. During the Cold War it was a Strategic Air Command Bomber base and was the first major base to be closed by the BRAC commission at the end of the Cold War. Today the base is partially used by the Air National Guard and most of the facilities have been converted to an industrial/office park.
However, the former Weapons Storage Area is now part of the Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Thanks to some very kind folks at the Fish and Wildlife Service, I was granted access to photograph it.
