Missiles, Missiles and More Missiles

Out in the middle of the New Mexico desert is a little place called the White Sands Missile Range. And by little I mean its 3,200 square miles, or roughly 2 1/2 Rhode Islands. It’s where the military tests bombs, missiles and just about anything else that you don’t want going off around people. Its also home to Trinity Site, the site of the first nuclear bomb detonation and a spot I explored in a previous post. But in another corner is the headquarters post and the White Sands Missile Park & Museum. They display one of pretty much everything that they’ve shot off there.

Trinity

A few months ago I took a trip out to New Mexico to work on my Cold War Project. One of the stops I made was at Trinity Site, the location where the first nuclear bomb was detonated. Trinity Site is located smack dab in the middle of the White Sands Missile Range and except for a few hours on two days each year its completely off limits to the public. There isnt a whole lot there aside from a fence and the small farm house down the road where the bomb was assembled, but it was pretty neat none the less.
